Transforming how African cities move and grow

Safe Cities Foundation works at the intersection of urban mobility, spatial planning and civic advocacy. We believe the future of African cities must be shaped by the people who live in them, not by car-centric legacies inherited from elsewhere.

As a new organisation, we bring fresh energy and evidence-based methods to one of the continent's most urgent challenges: how do we build cities that are safe, sustainable and genuinely inclusive for every resident, regardless of income, gender, age or ability?

From the streets of Kumasi to communities across sub-Saharan Africa, we partner with governments, development institutions, community groups and residents to reshape the urban experience through research, advocacy and co-design.

We are a registered non-governmental organisation in Ghana, operating with transparency toward our partners, funders and the communities we serve.

Every project we deliver is documented publicly: what was installed, where, when and with whom. Our research is published so city authorities, academics and other organisations can build on it. Where we work with institutional partners such as KNUST and UN-Habitat, their frameworks and reporting standards govern the work alongside our own.

We are a young organisation and we report accordingly: our impact figures reflect completed work, not projections.
